Practicing Muay Thai Kickboxing can a have great impact on your overall health and fitness.  We use the Thai pads in class to improve one’s cardiovascular fitness, strength, and endurance.  This beats going to a gym because you get a total body workout from just using the pads.

Muay Thai Kickboxing, the art of eight limbs (punches, kicks, knees, and elbows).  You learn to develop power in each limb.  The secret to this is learning to get your whole body behind each technique.  In the process, your body becomes more efficient and fit to achieve this result.  A good Thai workout on the pads puts every muscle in your body into fatigue very quickly.  When a student hits the pads, they perform a particular combination blending different attacks, using arms and legs.  At the center of it all is your core, which generates all the power.  So, if the core is strong, the technique will have power.  A Muay Thai practitioner will have no choice but to develop a strong core!

At the same time, you are bringing your cardio to a different level.  When doing combinations on the pads, you are constantly improving your explosiveness.  Instead of moving your body at a slower, constant rate, like running on a treadmill, you are putting together shorter but more intense bursts of energy.  Pad work is a form of interval training which gives you a level of conditioning similar to that of an athlete.  It is also really good for your heart.

Muay Thai pad work teaches you good technique along with putting you in incredible shape.  An intense workout on the pads is said to burn up to 750 calories per hour. The goal is to make the students technical as well as giving them the physical attributes to go with the techniques.
